Accord brings the MyTerms Trust Mark to your website through Civic Cookie Control, giving visitors a clear way to choose essential cookies only, backed by a standardised privacy agreement.

Developed by DataPal in partnership with MyData Global and Civic, Accord helps your organisation turn a privacy choice into a clear commitment: use only what is needed to deliver the service, and respect the visitor’s terms.

Accord is a service built to help individuals and organisations adopt the IEEE 7012 standard for personal data exchange.

The Accord trust mark is the badge/ mark that organisations use to show and publicise that they are willing and able to engage in this basis.

In its first instance the organisation agent surfaces as a premium cookie banner and related consent management platform. This enables:

  • Individuals to easily understand and ask for ‘Service Only’ as the their privacy setting, which equates to ‘Necessary Cookies Only’ at this stage. And then more evolved options once the base re-set is up and running.

  • Organisations that are not actually aiming to do anything other than ‘Service Only’ can make that stance more visible as a trust mark.

Organisations can apply to use the trust mark and related cookie banner at the link below. Signing up to do so triggers a short accreditation process run by MyData Global which covers:

  • Confirmed understanding of the requirements of the IEEE 7012 standard, and a commitment to its implications

  • A technical review of the web site/ digital property being proposed; and an analysis of the associated privacy policies and terms of service. If issues are noted in this process the organisation is invited to address them before re-submitting.

  • Assuming these steps complete successfully, an ongoing monitoring process is agreed to assure ongoing compliance with the requirements of the standard. When this is in place, the trust mark is awarded for a 12 month period, and guidance on its use provided.
